Look: Balo-i, LDN – On June 12, 2024, in a Display of Unity and Patriotism, various Military and Civic Units came together to celebrate the 126th Independence Day of the Philippines. The Event, spearheaded by the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Iligan City and led by Honorable Frederick W. Siao, the City Mayor, showcased the Nation's commitment to Freedom and National Pride.
The Day's Activities were marked by a vibrant Civic Military Parade and a solemn Flag Raising and Wreath Laying Ceremony. This significant Occasion saw the participation of Key Military Units under the Leadership of LTC Dennis Mark S Malinit, Commanding Officer of the 4th Mechanized Battalion. Prominent among these were the 41st Mechanized Infantry Company, 42nd Infantry Company, and 43rd Mechanized Infantry Company, all demonstrating exceptional Coordination and Discipline.
Captain Anthony S Gullem, Company Commander of the 43rd Mechanized Infantry Company, alongside 2nd Lieutenant Charles S Bambico, Executive Officer of the 42nd Mechanized Infantry Company, played crucial Roles in the Organization and execution of the Event. Their Leadership ensured that the Parade and Ceremonies were conducted with precision and respect for the historical significance of the Day.
Major General Gabriel C Viray III PA, Commander of the 1st Infantry ( TABAK) Division, and Brigadier General Anthon G. Abrina PA, Commander of the 2nd Mechanized Infantry Brigade, were also in attendance, reflecting the high level of Military representation. Their Presence underscored the Solidarity and Readiness of the Armed Forces to uphold and Defend the Nation’s Sovereignty.
The Event was further enriched by the Participation of Personnel from the 2nd Mechanized Brigade, Task Force Iligan, 55th Engineer Brigade, 10th Regional Community Defense Group (RCDG), Philippine National Police (PNP), Philippine Air Force, Philippine Navy, Philippine Marines, Philippine Coast Guard, Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and various Government and non-Government Agencies.
This diverse Assembly of Participants highlighted the collaborative spirit that underpins the strength and resilience of the Philippines. The Ceremonies were a Testament to the enduring commitment of Iligan City and its Partners to honor the sacrifices of those who fought for the Country's independence and to continue striving for a Prosperous and secure Future.
The 126th Independence Day Celebration in Iligan City was more than just a Commemoration; it was a powerful reminder of the unity and shared purpose that defines the Filipino People. As the Flags waved and Wreaths were laid, the City stood together, proud of its Heritage and hopeful for the Future.
