English: Monument to the battle of Bothwell Bridge, where the Covenanters were defeated by the Royal army on 22 June 1679. Erected in 1903 at the north end of the rebuilt bridge. Inscription reads: "In honour of the Covenanters who fought and fell in the Battle of Bothwell Bridge 22nd June 1679 in defence of civil and religious liberty - erected by public subscription 1903"
